Rekindle Your Joy Of Learning With Effective Methods

Rekindle Your Joy Of Learning With Effective Methods

  • JUNE 11, 2021

Do you find learning boring? Especially when you're stuck at home, and there's always noise in the background while attending monotonous video lectures. Opening a book may have been your New Year's resolution for 2021, but are you anticipating the start of 2022 already?

To say the least, learning can be demanding even when you have everything else set up perfectly. So how can you come out of this rut and bring back the lost joy of learning? This is a skill that needs to be developed, especially for those subjects that you loathe. Here are the top ways you can turn learning into an enjoyable activity irrespective of the subject.

Conduct Games

Studying with friends can be a great booster when you include games to make it exciting. It can motivate the entire group as you brainstorm on ideas and concepts that you may not think of separately. But it would help if you focused on your primary goal, i.e., study, and not get distracted in the game part. This will help you have fun and learn those boring subjects or topics you have been putting beneath the rug for last-minute rote memorization. But do not waste time thinking of a new game.

For instance, playing quizzes by adding the questions into treasure hunt cues and finding answers for the next cue seems like an interesting way to learn a new concept. Another great way is to play truth or dare based on your subjects. Ask challenging questions for the ‘truth,’ and if the student doesn’t answer or is incorrect, they have to go for the dare. However, make sure that the dare is far more complicated than getting the correct answer. Also, decide the dare themed on the topic of the question; for example, if students get a dare, they have to write the answer ten times or a paragraph.

Make It Creative

We all know how dull it can get - trying to memorize the same notes over a hundred times before you enter the examination hall for the final test. To break the same old chain, you can turn learning into a creative activity. While you study at home, these fun-filled methods will keep you focused on learning instead of worrying about your next exam.

Things like adding a musical rhythm to suitable topics or playing light instrumental tunes while studying, doing role-plays of topics like English, and arranging puzzle pieces that you create based on the topic answers, are a few ways to make learning fun. These will not only stimulate your brains but also keep you away from distractions like TV shows or Netflix. It also gives a creative boost to your senses when you learn this way, making your mind sharper to perform other tasks at hand.

Engage In Hands-On Learning

Studying with the help of a visual presentation is an innovative way to enhance your learning. Imagine looking at your topics just as you watch a 3D movie with those glasses on! Gone are those days when you had to memorize concepts by repeating them numerous times or simply writing notes and imagining atomic structures. Many people have started including hands-on learning solutions in their studies. You can play and interact with 3-dimensional objects of the subjects you study using this technique. The stereoscopic technology used in this method makes objects appear real.

You might have used your imagination or viewed images in books while learning a new chemical formula or understanding the anatomy of a brain. With 3D hands-on learning, you can view those formations and understand their sections separately. Imagine looking at a brain out of your monitor and rotating it to view from different angles; fun isn’t it! Who wouldn’t want to go back and study new topics when such a type of learning takes place? Research shows that when you learn using hands-on interactive techniques, you have a deeper understanding of the topic, and it gets inscribed in your memory faster than usual.

Try out one of these topics in 3D:

Physics

Chemistry

Biology

Maths

Change Location

This one may not always be possible, but you can try if it suits your environment and preference. When you study at the same place every day, it becomes a bit boring as you need to sit for hours, especially for those who have a habit of getting up every 10 to 20 minutes. In such a scenario, you can find new places in your home to help bring your interest in learning. For instance, you can allocate different places to study different subjects as per relevance or find a suitable place in a garden where there is fresh air to nourish your mind while studying. Learning by changing locations can be a helpful option as you can relate to the topic when you think about that place later.

Wrapping Up

When you find ways to learn and have fun, you end up remembering things quickly and easily. Engaging in such activities can surely re-ignite your passion and love for learning.
