How To Ensure Students Learn Effectively Under Stress

  • MAY 28, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused havoc on families, leaving many children in precarious situations. While job holders had to start working from home, students were forced to learn online. It was not long enough when zoom classes turned exhausting. They had to continuously stare at the computer screen for 4 to 5 hours every day! Studying indeed became less fun and more depressive.

With most families facing challenges, it can be a significant driver of kids falling behind. A child's cognitive learning is built on a secure and stable emotional foundation. If they continually see their parents unhappy or anxious, it can start to inhibit their development. Being a stressful time for parents, kids may find it hard to maintain a calm and attentive environment when parents take over schooling. How to tackle this and ensure that students get to stimulate their senses in a comfortable learning climate? Let us dig a little deeper.

Being parents, you can feel much more relaxed by participating in supportive and engaged networks. And when you feel calmer, you help your children have a healthier and more energizing learning environment. Instead of worrying about your child falling behind academically, you must proactively focus on expanding their horizons. That can be done by giving them as many opportunities for learning as possible, given these testing times. When you provide them a vast space to explore their subjects, they feel motivated to learn more.

Right now, we must center ourselves on making them feel loved, secure and safe amid these disruptions. Keeping these things in balance is highly crucial for their learning to take place. To perform well under stress and pressure, students need a daily schedule that builds formal opportunities for engagement. You can foster growth in your children by giving a helping hand in their studies and their daily curriculum.

Along with parents, teachers must also nourish their students' mental and emotional states by celebrating their successes. Personalization is the key to digital learning, and with a massive number of students come numerous learning preferences. They all learn differently, starting from one-on-one to lectures and from self-study to group studies. Digital mediums can significantly enable us to offer various tools and formats to accommodate diverse learning styles. While personalization and customization are almost impossible in large classroom sizes of traditional settings, online learning can play a significant role in those areas.

Students learning mathematics face the most significant loss as each concept grows into the next, and missing out on any one of them can hinder their progress. The only way to tackle this limitation is by coming out of rote learning and imparting deeper understanding using gamified 3D learning. When students study through hands-on learning by doing approach instead of simply reading and memorizing concepts, their curious minds remain engaged. At the same time, they have fun exploring 3D objects from different angles. It also enhances their thinking skills, enabling them to bring innovative ideas and solutions to worldly problems quickly and efficiently.
